Hawk and Trowel Texture

This type of plaster with a modern look is most often seen in new construction, but can also be applied to existing walls that have been repaired or patched. Hawk and trowel drywall texture types are applied with a hawk or pan and specifically a trowel. This texture looks similar to waves in water. The look is created from layers of drywall flowing over one another.

Orange Peel Texture

Orange peel texture requires a hopper gun with a small nozzle for high air pressure by an air compressor. Drywall mud is watered down and poured into the hopper, then a rapid spraying technique creates a light texture that looks similar to an orange peel.

Knockdown Texture

Knockdown texture is sprayed on just like orange peel is, and then its knocked down with 12" inch, 10" inch, 8" inch, or a bigger knife depending on the size of the project, to create a rougher look.

Imperfect Smooth

This texture is close to smooth with minor imperfections, with a little bit of trowel appearance, but with bigger spots being smooth. This texture usually costs more than the first textures mentioned but our customers that have the budget sometimes prefer it.

Smooth Texture

This texture can be used as a surface for laying wallpaper or simply used to create a modern smooth, clean surface. This texture is smooth to the touch and also almost a shiny appearance. There are levels to how smooth you could want you walls (meaning less and less scratches) for example level 3, level 4 or level 5 smoothness. Of course the smoother the wall the more expensive, because it will take extra layers of joint compound and sanding to get it close to perfect.
